There was a last time that I pulled Jeff in a wagon with us 4 on another amazing childhood adventure fed by mayonnaise sandwiches.
There was a last time that we played and argued over baseball on a hot summer night and walked home in the dark.
There was the last time that we 4 played in the dirt gullies back behind my house.
There was a last Matchbox car race.
There was a last time we smoked your dad’s cigarette butts behind his shop.
There was a last time that we walked to the store and pushed Coke bottle caps into the hot asphalt.
There was a last time that we four rode our bikes until our mothers would come out and call us for supper.
There was a last time that we got in trouble.
And, I’m sure that there was a last time that we all four laughed at the same thing together at the same time.
I don’t know when any of those last times were.
But what I do know is…I will see you again.
Thank you for making my childhood better.
I loved them all! It’s good to look back on our pasts or our childhoods and remember faces that we had such good times with. Living in today’s world is so different than the one we grew up in and I’m even older than you, saddens me as our children never knew the magic nor the difficulties we endured that made us who we are today. Friends and friendships are not nearly as prolific as they were back then. Seems like yesterday when I had my heart attack and made you a friend. Now have lost touch with all those who aided us in that department. Hope you are well and maybe retired? God bless you and your family many times over !!!!
